Hi, I’m Angela

Meet Your Vancouver Holistic Nutritionist

I’m a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant, Certified Holistic Private Chef and mother of 2 human babies and one fur baby. My mission is to empower and support women’s journey into motherhood through nutrition and food by providing them the tools to thrive in pregnancy and heal and nourish their bodies in postpartum.

After giving birth to my daughter, I was lucky to be supported by my family through the traditional “zuo yuezi” (postpartum confinement) traditions of my ancestors. My only task was to recover and take care of my new baby. My mom and sister would bring warming foods and broths that promoted postpartum healing during this time. Sometimes they would just come and hold my daughter so I could shower or catch a nap. When I met other new moms, I noticed that some of their experiences were radically different. Many had little to no support and were left to “do it all” themselves, their partners often back to work soon after the arrival of baby. It seemed that once the baby arrived, all the focus turned away from the mother, leaving her feeling burnt out, depleted and unsupported.

A fire was lit within me. I decided to study nutrition through Oh Baby Academy and became a Certified Nutrition Consultant supporting pregnancy, postpartum and babies. With food being my love language, it was only natural, then, to conjure up more ways to support mamas through my love of food and cooking. I became a Certified Holistic Private Chef through Beyond Nourished so that I could nourish mamas and their families with beautiful, delicious and nutritious food.

I launched Bloom Natural Nutrition as a space to offer support to women using a whole foods first approach that is grounded in science and evidence-based practices, and that also pays homage to the traditional wisdom of the mothers before us. My hope is that all mothers feel supported with the knowledge they need to thrive at each stage of pregnancy, postpartum and introducing solids to their babies.

I am a Westcoast gal at heart and am proud to call Vancouver home. My heart lives where the mountains meet the ocean. When I’m not thinking up new ways to support mamas, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen, I can be found exploring the many forests and trails around BC with my loves and planning our dream cabin in the mountains.

A modern approach to a traditional practice

In many cultures across the world, the first 40 days after birth are sacred. When a baby is born, so is a mother, and thus, the practice of mothering the mother in this postpartum period is essential to create the space for her to rest, recover and bond with her baby.

Modern mothers are often pushed to prematurely “bounce back” after delivering their babies and are often left alone to face the physical and emotional challenges of this transformative new chapter of their lives. I’ve designed my offerings with the goal to extend a source of connection, nourishment and guidance during this pivotal time in a way that honours the rite of passage that is pregnancy and birth.

Through the lost art of mothering the mother, each custom program is formulated to support the unique needs of the new mother through low effort ways to heal the body, replenish nutrients and support lactation (if breastfeeding).

Let’s plant the seeds for a healthy life.
